O Lord, You’re Beautiful / I Exalt Thee
There’s just something about the atmosphere or the “feel” one gets by attending a live concert. But when it’s a Lauren Daigle concert, chances are you’ll experience a once in a life-time, heart-felt worship/praise extravaganza! Such is the case with this moment in Lauren’s “World Tour 2023” performed in Lexington, Kentucky’s 20,500 seat Rupp Arena . After running through many of her songs from her “Look Up Child” album, she asked the audience if they wanted to hear some “old-school songs”. “We’re going to take it back just a bit”, she declared as the adoring crowd erupted in approving applause.
The two songs she combined into a single worship/praise rendition was “O Lord, You’re Beautiful” written by Keith Green in 1980 and “I Exalt Thee” written in 1983 by Phil Driscol. The original versions performed by the composers are both still available, but neither is delivered as honest, prayerful worship like Lauren’s. There is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence in viewing Lauren’s face as she sings and the closeup faces of audience members as they worship.
The concluding song, “I Exalt Thee” is enhanced with a trombone solo by Roy Agee, a well-known trombonist, and by Lauren’s backup singers that included Rachel Lampa. Giving a listen to this 8 minute clip from the concert is well worth the time.
